Yes, all our scholarships are only offered to public school students. Our tertiary scholarships are for students at public universities or Registered Training Organisations, e.g. TAFE.

Most scholarships provide funds to be used directly towards a student’s education expenses. There are a few scholarships that include mentorship, work experience or other opportunities. It is best to read the information pack of the scholarship for exact details of what the scholarship will provide.

Most scholarships open in the beginning of Term 3 each year. However there are a few scholarships that open at other times. It is best to keep an eye on our website or sign up to our newsletter to ensure you know when new scholarships are opening.

This varies according to each scholarship.  Ensure you check the exact closing date on the scholarship information pack as this may vary.

Yes, however you may only be awarded one scholarship at any point.

This year the Public Education foundation has introduced an online system for accepting scholarship applications.  Click here to download faqs about the process and here for some handy hints for teachers and students about the new system.

Pleaseemail us advising your name and what scholarship you have applied for. We will check and advise if we have received it.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome within three months from the closing date of the scholarships.

Unless otherwise stated, most scholarship recipients will receive their scholarship at the beginning of the academic year.

It is a condition of the Scholarship that funds provided are only used for the direct educational benefit of the recipient. If a student leaves public school or tertiary education before the end of the scholarship agreement, the scholarship will lapse. Any unspent monies must be refunded to the Scholarship Fund of the Public Education Foundation. Before applying for a scholarship, please ensure that you read the full scholarship terms and conditions. If you cannot read these online please let us know and we will email or post a copy to you.

A selection panel will review all scholarship applications according to the criteria set out in the application form. After considering all applications, the selection panel will recommend successful applicants to the Public Education Foundation’s Board for final approval.

Scholarship funds will be administrated through the recipient’s school principal. We advise all recipients to make an appointment with their principal in order to discuss how the funds are to be used. If you are a tertiary student, the scholarship fund will be directly distributed to you.

At the end of each academic year of your scholarship, you will need to complete a report outlining how the funds have been spent. Please also ensure you advise us immediately if you change address or schools.
