Clayton Reedie says school principals hold paradoxical roles: they are placed in schools to lead, but they should never forget that they are actually in a position of service, to their students, staff, local communities and society.

Reedie, the principal of Dalmeny Public School, a large K-6 school in Prestons, near Liverpool, is responsible for 85 staff and 1030 students.
