The Australian Education Union’s (AEU) Indigenous Primary Scholarship provides financial assistance to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in South Australian public primary schools located in regional, rural, or remote communities. The scholarship assists families with educational expenses to help students engage, learn, and excel in their primary years.

Funding may be awarded over four consecutive years at $1,000 per year – a total of $4,000 – depending on the student’s current year level at the time of application. For example, in 2026:

  • Kindergarten student – assistance provided for four years (K-Year 3 or 2029)
  • Year 1 student (Years 1-4 or 2029)
  • Year 2 student (Years 2-5 or 2029)
  • Year 3 student (Years 3-6 or 2029)
