Supporting Queensland public school students to pursue tertiary teaching studies
The Teachers Health Tertiary Teaching Scholarship (QLD) is open to students in Queensland. To be eligible for this scholarship a scholar must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (Teaching) in 2026 and have completed Year 12 in a public school in Queensland in 2025. The scholarship aims to support high-potential students facing hardship.
Funding may be awarded over three years at $3,000 per year (a total of $9,000).
What the Scholarship Covers
Scholarship funds may be used for tertiary study needs including:
- Course fees
- Required equipment
- Stationery and textbooks
- Laptop or device for study
- Software or online course subscriptions
- Travel or accommodation linked to tertiary study
- Tutoring or academic support (online or in-person)
Recipients must submit an academic transcript each year to confirm satisfactory progress. PEF reserves the right to withdraw scholarships for unsatisfactory academic progression or if the student discontinues their course. Any unused funds must be returned.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have attended a Queensland public high school
- Be currently enrolled full-time in a tertiary teaching course at a public university
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident – students without citizenship or permanent residency may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Be experiencing hardship
- Have demonstrated a positive contribution to community or extracurricular activities
Selection Criteria
The selection panel will assess:
- Academic achievement and engagement
- Motivation to complete tertiary teaching studies
- Clear commitment to a future career in education
- Equity or financial disadvantage impacting education access
- Contribution to community, cultural or leadership activities
Selection Process
A selection panel comprising PEF staff, funding partner representatives, and independent experts will assess all eligible applications. Recommendations will be submitted to PEF’s Board for approval.
Applicants will be notified by the end of Semester 1, 2026.
Enrolment Requirements
Once offered the scholarship, the student must provide confirmed evidence of enrolment in a public university course before payments can be made.

- Supporting statement from university course convenor/equity and diversity team member or equivalent
Notes for References
- Personal references must be specific and supportive. Generic references may disadvantage applicants
- University statements must provide individualised commentary; generic responses may disadvantage applicants
