My name is Ginan Issa and I began a double degree of law and psychology at the University of New South Wales in 2016. At the end of 2015, immediately after the completion of my HSC, I was fortunate enough to be awarded a scholarship by the Susan & Isaac Wakil Foundation in order to support me throughout my tertiary studies. The support of the Public Education Foundation and the Susan & Isaac Wakil Foundation has had such an instrumental impact on my education and journey throughout my career. With this funding, I have not only been able to purchase all of my textbooks, which otherwise would have been a burden, but have also been able to access other resources that have made a significant difference to my assessment marks.

The funding from the Wakil Scholarship has not only had a significant role in helping me to overcome some of the financial barriers that come with tertiary education, but also in providing me with the confidence to take on challenges throughout the course of my studies. With this assurance, I have been able to work to the best of my ability, allowing me to achieve results at a high standard and successfully complete my first year at University. In my second year of studies, I hope to further engage myself in extra-curricular activities and volunteering work, which will further bolster my career forward.

I am forever grateful to the Public Education Foundation and the Susan & Isaac Wakil Foundation for all of the support that they have provided to me throughout the course of my studies.
